This 26 year old mainstay on Second Avenue is still serving delicious burgers.
Known for its homey atmosphere, on Second Avenue is a mainstay in Mineola. Seemingly always crowded, the ultimate staple to any all-American restaurant is the hamburger.
The Dish: Burgers at The St. James
What’s In It: This half-pound, handmade, fresh burger is served on a toasted sesame seed bun. There were six burger options such as The Classic topped with sautéed mushrooms, onions and melted mozzarella, The Wisconsin with aged cheddar cheese and bacon strips, and The Dublin topped with chopped peppers, onions, Dijon mustard and melted Swiss. I decided to go with an unadorned burger to get the taste of the meat.

How’s It Taste: the burger was juicy and delicious and perfectly cooked to my order (medium rare).
Sides: The St. James burger comes with French fries, plus sliced pickle, tomato and onion and some lettuce. Tuesday is Burger Mania night from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and the burger includes a free bottle of beer, glass of wine or soda.
