  1. An immigration lawyer from Great Neck was stabbed to death Monday morning, allegedly by a woman whom he refused to represent, according to the NYPD and news outlets. Xiaoning Zhang, 25, of Queens reportedly killed 66-year-old lawyer Jim Li in his Flushing, Queens office at 136-56 39th Ave. Zhang has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.   2. The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, Mineola, located at 132 Jefferson Ave. at Willis Avenue, is celebrating 101 years on March 27. When it was founded in 1921, the Mineola Lutheran Church was not only a house of worship but a social center for the community, which consisted of mostly of farmland. Today, the church is the home of the Lutheran Counseling Center, Lutheran Braille Workers and Faith Mission Food Pantry, and is in partnership with Beacon House, which offers temporary housing to homeless veterans and their families. A special service will take place at 10 a.m. on March 27 to mark this momentous day, and all are welcome to attend. (Mineola American)
  3. William (Bill) Frederick Grossjung, 87, passed away in Ohio on March 12 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. A graduate of Mineola High School, Grossjung proudly served in the Korean War and then served his community as a Nassau County Police officer for more than 32 years. He was a devoted husband for 65 years to Arlene (Beck), father of Wendy Brolly, Bart Grossjung and Glenn Grossjung, and grandfather to nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
