  1. Discount grocery store chain Lidl is opening its newest location in Garden City Park on Wednesday, June 15. Located at 2475 Jericho Turnpike in the Garden City Park Plaza shopping center at the corner of Marcus Avenue, Lidl will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and will employ 45 people in full- and part-time positions. Customers who come for the ribbon cutting on June 15 at 7:40 a.m. can win special prizes. (Patch)
  2. Nassau County police report that a 35-year-old man was killed early Tuesday morning while trying to cross Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead when he was hit by two cars. The incident happened near the intersection of President Street at 4:35 a.m., as the pedestrian was hit first by a 2003 Honda Civic that pushed him into the other lane of traffic, then he was hit by a 2018 Dodge van.
