Here are the top stories in Mineola today:
- A 66-year-old man died in a car crash in West Hempstead Thursday evening when he was driving a 2021 Chevy SUV and hit a 2015 Toyota Camry driven by a 41-year-old woman, then slammed into a utility pole. The accident occurred at Hempstead Avenue and Front Street just before 7 p.m. The female driver refused medical treatment, and no other injuries were reported. (Mineola Patch)
- Nassau County police have been reporting a rise in catalytic converter thefts that are sold for scrap metal from cars since at least the beginning of the year, and it does not seem to be slowing down for the summer. In Mineola, the valuable part was stolen from two vehicles on June 21, one on Coolidge Avenue and another on Emory Road. On June 23, thieves stole another catalytic converter from a car on Lynton Road in Albertson. (Patch)
- New York Cryogen, Inc., a mobile therapeutic provider of cryotherapy located on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, has been recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) with exclusive insurance billing codes. That means the company can potentially provide cryotherapy services for more people with chronic pain conditions that can be covered by health insurance. (Digital Journal)
