Man Arrested After Robbing Mineola Bank, Fleeing in Taxi: Police
The man was arrested less than an hour after the robbery occurred Saturday morning, police say.

A man was arrested after he robbed a Mineola bank and used a taxi driver as his getaway driver Saturday morning.
According to authorities, Monroe Williamson, 28, of Garden City Park, entered Chase Bank, located at 216 Old Country Road, and handed a note demanding cash to a 44-year-old female teller at 9:23 a.m. The teller complied and the man fled the scene in an All Island Taxi from the Mineola taxi stand, police say.
Officers located Williamson less than an hour later on Washington and Burr Avenue. He was placed under arrest without incident at 10:05 a.m. and the robbery proceeds were recovered, police say.

Williamson was charged with third-degree robbery and will be arraigned as soon as medically practical.
