Man Committed 5 Burglaries in Westbury, Franklin Square: Police

He stole more than 200 cases of beer, 225 bottles of nail polish, $4,500 in assorted cosmetics and other various items, police say.

A 39-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for committing five Westbury and Franklin Square commercial burglaries that occurred over the span of five months, police say.

Following an investigation, Floral Park resident Jeffrey W. Waiksnis was in Queens Central Booking for an unrelated incident in New York City when he was placed under arrest by officers from the Bureau of Special Operations.

Police say Waiksnis committed the following burglaries that occurred from Oct. 2015 to late February:

  • Walgreens, located at 15 Old Country Road in Westbury, on Oct. 1, 2015 in which approximately 200 cases of beer were stolen.
  • Walgreens, located at 15 Old Country Road in Westbury, on Oct. 3, 2015 in which approximately 8 12-packs of beer were stolen.
  • CVS, located at 610 Old Country Road in Westbury, on Jan. 20 in which approximately $4,500 worth of assorted cosmetics were stolen.
  • CVS, located at 640 Franklin Ave. in Franklin Square, on Feb. 5 in which approximately 225 bottles of nail polish were stolen.
  • CVS, located at 640 Franklin Ave. in Franklin Square, on Feb. 26 in which approximately $420 worth of socks and nail polishes were stolen.

Waiksnis is being charged with three counts third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and petty larceny. He will be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
