Man Delivering Puppies Charged With Assault: Nassau Police

A man who was recording the men delivering puppies to a Nassau store was assaulted by them, police say.

A Missouri man delivering puppies to a pet store in Albertson was arrested last week after police say he attacked a man who was recording him.

According to police , officers responded to a 911 call just before 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 30 for an assault in the back of Pups 4 Love, located at 957 Willis Ave. Police say that a 48-year-old man had an argument with two other men who were delivering puppies to the store. The argument escalated and became physical, and police say that one of the men, who has yet to be arrested, pulled the man from his car and began to hit him.

Then Christopher Hyde, 40, of Springfield, Missouri, started kicking and punching the man in his face and body, police said. The unknown man fled, but Hyde stayed at the scene and was arrested without incident, police said.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of pain and swelling from his wounds. According to a post he made to social media after the assault, the man claimed that the men were delivering puppy mill dogs to the pet store, and that he was recording them dropping the dogs off. He also claimed that the owner of the store was instigating the men committing the assault.

Hyde is charged with third-degree assault. He was arraigned on Jan. 31 at First District Court in Hempstead.
