  1. A 37-year-old Hempstead man, Bobby Vanderhall, pleaded guilty to murder in the first degree and attempted murder in the second degree for killing his mother, sister and sister's friend with a hammer in 2017. A fourth victim in the home was also attacked but escaped with injuries. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Richard Nicolello, presiding officer of the 9th Legislative District since 1996, said that making Nassau County more affordable is a top priority if he is re-elected in November. A Republican from New Hyde Park, Nicollelo represents Mineola, New Hyde Park, Garden City Park, East Williston, Williston Park, Albertson, Roslyn Estates, Munsey Park, Plandome, Plandome Heights and Plandome Manor. New members will be inducted to the Mineola Athletic Hall of Fame this Friday, Oct. 29, during halftime of the Mineola Mustangs Varsity Boys Football game at Hampton Stadium at 7 p.m. The inductees are: the 1983 Girls State Championship Softball Team, Mineola Lacrosse Coach Bob Young and Rollie Stichweh, Mineola High School class of 1961, who played on three Nassau County championship teams.
