- A Levittown man was arrested and accused of attempting to burglarize a Roslyn Estates home while it was occupied on Saturday afternoon. According to police, a 15-year-old female resident of the house heard a loud noise and saw her back door was damaged; she then saw the suspect, 40-year-old Steven Morra, walking in her backyard. The girl called the police from a neighbor's house, and they found him a few hours later at 5:20 p.m. in another neighbor's yard on The Serpentine. - Many new adorable furry friends are available for adoption at AdvoCat Rescue in Mineola and other shelters in the area. All of AdvoCat Rescue's kittens and cats are fostered in private homes, and some have made the journey here from as far away as Oman. Could one of them be the perfect addition to your family? Are you a Mineola resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can't afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here's why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2 percent when inflation is >3 percent
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164 percent (1995-2021)

This was the first year and St. Aidan School was proud to have a team participate. The team was made up of 12 students in grades 6-8 who were facilitated by our very own, Miss Xochitl DiCostanzo. He was operated on in Ecuador but in view of the fact that his tumor was very aggressive we traveled to Spain where he underwent a second operation, confirming that his tumor is malignant, grade 3 astrocytoma, starting his treatment with very strong radiation and chemotherapies. Soon the disease has returned more aggressive, spreading to a large area of the brain. Time in Spain is over, and our new option is to operate it for the third time and access a clinical trial in the United States, but for this we need to raise as much as possible. Please, we need your help. Your contribution is very important to continue in this fight. https://gofund.me/90ebb549" (Nextdoor)
