Man Robbed, Assaulted at Gunpoint Behind Westbury School

The incident occurred Thursday night, police said.

Police are investigating an incident where a man walking behind a school was assaulted and robbed by two armed men in Westbury on Thursday night.

According to authorities, a 41-year-old man was walking behind Park Avenue School, located at 955 Park Ave., when two masked men approached him, each displaying a handgun, and demanded cash at 9:53 p.m.

The first robber punched the man in the left side of his face and the second robber pistol whipped him in the face, police said. The robbers reportedly took the man’s cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash from his wallet.

The robbers then ran away toward Elderberry Road.

A Nassau County Police ambulance took the man to a local hospital to be treated for his injures. He suffered from painful swelling, a contusion to the left eye and abrasions.

Police described the robbers as wearing black masks, black clothing, black gloves and black shoes.

Detectives request that anyone with information regarding this robbery to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers Unit at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
