Masked Gunman Robs Mineola Bank

Robbery occurred on Jericho Turnpike Saturday morning.

A man armed with a gun robbed a Mineola bank on Saturday morning, police said.

According to police, the man entered Bethpage Federal Credit Union, located at 131 Jericho Turnpike, and verbally demanded money shortly before 11 a.m.

After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the man, who was armed with a black handgun, fled the bank on foot west on Jericho Turnpike then east on Washington Avenue, police said.

There were five employees and four customers in the bank at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.

The robber was described as 6-foot to 6-foot-2, wearing a gray jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, black mask and dark pants.

Detectives request anyone with information on the robbery to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
