Meadow Drive School Gets New Principal
Sara Ortiz will start on July 1. She is replacing Dr. SueCaryl Fleischmann, who is retiring.

The Mineola Board of Education unanimously appointed Sara Ortiz as principal of Meadow Drive School, effective July 1. She will be replacing retiring principal Dr. SueCaryl Fleischmann.
With more than 13 years of education experience, Ortiz has been with the Mineola School District as an instructional leader since 2016. While in this role, she designed and delivered bi-weekly professional development workshops across all five schools, enhanced Mineola’s Integrated Curriculum and led a team of educators in developing Badge Books for kindergarten students this year.
Ortiz earned her Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from Wesleyan University. She has two Master of Science degrees -- one in elementary education from Pace University and the other in educational leadership from Brooklyn College.

“I am excited to be continuing my career as a principal here at Meadow,” she said. “Mineola is a truly unique district and I am honored to continue working with this community, its students and this group of educators. I look forward to welcoming students and their families in the fall.”
