Mineola Bicycle Racing Team Sprints into 2016

As we head into the Spring of 2016, so does the Mineola Bicycle Racing Team, which will compete in its second season. 20 men and 6 women started their season last March with excitement and focus for what would become a memorable and successful year.

How do we measure success? Well let us just cover some facts about the team in 2015. Mineola Bicycle Racing Team (MBRT) rolled up to the start line more than 430 times between them. They had 102 Top 10 finishes! 7 members of the team finished their season ranked in the top 15 in New York State, 5 of them in the top 15 in the country. One of their biggest accomplishments for 2015 was the Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup race series held at Prospect Park. One of the team’s leaders, Neil Isola, took home the yellow jersey, meaning he was the overall points leader in the series in the Cat 4 field. Isola attributes the win to the hard work and camaraderie of the team.

The MBRT will keep their same sponsors for their sophomore year, with Mineola Bicycle leading the way as the team’s main sponsor. Mineola Bicycle is heading into its 81st year and is thankful to have such a great group of dedicated cyclists representing them in many high profile bike races. Cannondale and Sugoi, are also key sponsors of the team. Although, not required to do so, many of MBRT’s members ride Cannondale bikes which were provided by Mineola Bicycle and Cannondale at reduced prices in return for being Brand Ambassadors for the company. The team’s cycling kits are made by Sugoi, the high quality manufacturing cycling apparel company. The final sponsor of the team is nutrition manufacturer PowerBar, who has provided the team with its much needed energy supplements that they use for both training and on race day.
