  1. The New York Blood Center in New Hyde Park has declared a "blood emergency" following a sharp drop in donations last month and is holding blood drives across Nassau County throughout June. In Mineola, you can donate at blood drives on the following dates: this Saturday, June 4 at Garden City Cross Fit, 180 E. 2nd St. (Mineola), from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Monday, June 6 at Mineola Memorial Library, 195 Marcellus Road, from 1 to 7 p.m; and Wednesday, June 22 at Nassau County Police Headquarters, 1490 Franklin Ave., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Mineola Patch)
  2. A Westbury High School student has been arrested on terrorism and harassment charges after threatening students and faculty on social media with a violent act, according to police. Oketa Orlando Blair Jr., 18, was also given an Extreme Risk Protection Order to prevent him from purchasing any firearms. Police searched Blair Jr.'s Westbury home for weapons, but they did not find any. (Patch)
