Mineola Gets A New Welcome Sign

The new sign replaces the one that was damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

Mineola has its welcome message back.

That’s because a new “Welcome to Mineola” sign was unveiled Tuesday. The new sign replaces the one damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The damaged sign had been a landmark in Mineola for nearly 40 years, Town of North Hempstead officials said.

At the unveiling were government officials as well as representatives from Winthrop University Hospital, among others.

The new sign, which was redesigned by Going Sign and Service Company, was put back at the original location on top of the Station Plaza Diner across from the Mineola Long Island Railroad Station.
