Mineola Man Injured In Hit-And-Run Dies Saturday: Police

Robert Maraj died the day after he was seriously injured in a hit-and-run on Roslyn Road, Nassau police said.

MINEOLA, NY — The 64-year-old man seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Mineola died at a local hospital on Saturday, Nassau County police said.

Police said that Robert Maraj of Mineola was walking on Roslyn Road at the intersection of Raff Avenue at about 6:15 p.m. on Friday when he was struck by a northbound car that did not stop, police said. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police do not have a description of the vehicle that struck Maraj. Detectives are requesting that anyone with information about the crash to call Crime Stoppers, a confidential police hotline, at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
