Mineola Residents Approve School Budget

Mineola residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.

The $94.4 million budget is a 3.54 percent increase over the current year's spending plan of $91.2 million. Voters approved the budget 796 to 233. To finance the budget, the tax levy is increasing by .89 percent, which is under the district's tax levy cap.

Residents also had an opportunity to vote for Proposition 2, which would fund expansions and programs in the schools. It passed, 756 to 252.
