Mineola Students Learn About Social Media Safety

A Mineola High School graduate spoke about the dangers of various social media platforms.

A former graduate of Mineola High School came to Mineola Middle School to encourage the students to make smart choices while using social media.

Katie Schumacher presented her “Don’t Press Send” campaign and spoke with fifth- through seventh-graders.

During the program, she emphasized the dangers and legality of student choices on such platforms as Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter, and explained in detail how the Dignity for All Students Act protects them from harmful online behavior.
