  1. Charles Polevich of Mineola pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of an auto accident with a fatality and tampering with evidence in the hit-and-run case that killed rapper Nicki Minaj's father, Robert Maraj. Prosecutors assert that 71-year-old Polevich struck and killed 64-year-old Maraj as he was walking along Roslyn Road in Mineola at 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 21. After seeing Maraj lying on the ground, Polevich reportedly left him there, drove home and hid his station wagon. (Mineola Patch)
  2. A pedestrian was struck and critically injured Saturday morning in a hit-and-run in Glen Cove, according to police. The 40-year-old mother of three was crossing Pearsall Avenue just west of Walnut Road around 10:45 a.m. when she was hit by what is believed to be a black Chevy Trailblazer. Glen Cove police said that the driver stopped for a moment but then fled the scene. (Mineola Patch)
