- A Mineola man has gone missing and needs medical attention, according to the Nassau County Police Department. Jose Luis Andrade-Torres, a 36-year-old construction worker, was last seen in East Meadow on Jan. 21. He is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 160-pound Hispanic male with brown eyes, short black hair and a goatee. He is known to frequent Hempstead. If you have any information about where Andrade-Torres is, please call the police at 516-573-7347 or 911. (Mineola Patch)
- A substructure is being installed this month on the Denton Avenue bridge in Garden City that is part of the Long Island Rail Road's Expansion Project to add a third track on the Main Line from Floral Park to Hicksville. Although the project is 11 months behind schedule, LIRR officials said that work on the bridge has been going well since starting last month. (The Island Now)
- An upstate New York woman was indicted on charges of stabbing her brother to death on Thanksgiving. Veronica Hardwick, 51, reportedly visited her mother and brother in Hempstead on Nov. 25, 2021, and stabbed her brother, Richard Reshard, while arguing with him. Reshard died two weeks later from his injuries. (Garden City Patch)
