Here are the top stories in Mineola today:

  1. As monkeypox spreads throughout New York City with over 600 cases, Long Island is also preparing for this health crisis with two pop-up vaccination sites opening in Nassau County this week. "Mineola to Montauk, there is easy and safe access to get the vaccine," said David Kilmnick with the LGBT Network. He said that one site will be at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, and a second one will be at a Northwell Health clinic near Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park. (FOX 5 New York)
  2. Hale and Hearty, the popular soup chain with a location in the Parkway Plaza shopping center on Glen Cove Road in Carle Place, shut down all of its restaurants without advance notice. The franchise with 16 locations in Long Island, Brooklyn and Manhattan did not indicate if the closures were permanent or if some would reopen down the road. (ABC7NY)
  3. Nassau County police arrested a couple on Monday accused of selling knock-off jewelry from their car on the side of a road in Uniondale. Ionel Ghicoel, 37, and Elvira Stan, 36, both of Seattle, reportedly sold fake jewelry to a 28-year-old woman from their white Mercedes near Nassau Road and Stanton Boulevard. If you think you purchased jewelry from this couple, please call 911 or Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. (Mineola Patch)
