Here are the top stories today in Mineola:

  1. The motorcyclist killed in Brookville on Thursday as he rode into electric wires knocked down by a drunk driver has been identified by Nassau County police as 33-year-old Milton Diaz of Glen Cove. Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene after becoming stuck in the live wires and losing control of his motorcycle. (Patch)
  2. Early voting begins today for the June 28 primaries for Democratic and Republican candidates for governor and runs until Sunday, June 18. In Mineola, you can cast your vote at the Nassau County Board of Elections at 240 Old Country Road, 5th Floor, but you can also cast your vote at one of 26 other polling locations throughout Nassau County.   3. Three foreclosed Massapequa homes will be auctioned off in Mineola next month, all at 2:30 p.m. on the north side steps at the Nassau County Supreme Court (100 Supreme Court Drive). On July 7: 103 Abbott St. in North Massapequa with a lien of $583,598.30 will be offered for sale; on July 11: 529 Ocean Ave., Massapequa will be up for grabs (outstanding lien of $398,629.72); and on July 20: 45 Beverly Place, Massapequa, which encompasses four lots, will be offered for sale with a lien of $590,059.64.
