Nassau County Extends Deadline for Property Tax Exemption Filing
Residents now have an extra day to file their exemptions.

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano announced Thursday that he will be extending the property tax exemptions filing deadline to Tuesday, Jan. 3, to accommodate homeowners affected by the suspension of mail delivery on Jan. 2.
While the Department of Assessment will be open on Jan. 2 to accept and help homeowners file their exemption applications, all post offices will be closed in observance of the New Year’s Day.
“With the filing deadline fast approaching, I urge homeowners who have yet to file for their property tax exemption to take advantage of this one-day extension and submit their application as soon as possible,” Mangano said. “There is no filing fee to process any exemption application and Department of Assessment personnel will be available to answer any questions regarding the filing process and forms."
