Nassau Man Charged with Stealing $18,000 from His Employer
BREAKING: Police arrested him at a Mineola bank and charged him with forging checks.

A Roslyn Heights man was arrested in Mineola Tuesday and charged with stealing thousands from his employer.
The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Roslyn Heights man on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in Mineola.
According to Crimes Against Property detectives, between Aug. 17 and Oct. 4, Timothy M. Smith, 39, of Browers Lane, Roslyn Heights, allegedly cashed 42 forged checks that he had stolen from his employer, American Theatre Dance Workshop, located at 999 Herricks Road in New Hyde Park.
On Oct. 4, Smith allegedly attempted to cash one of the checks at TD Bank, located at 540 Jericho Turnpike in Mineola, and police were notified. Responding officers placed him under arrest at that location without incident. Smith's employer suffered a loss of more than $18,000. Smith was allegedly found to be in possession of two glassine bags containing heroin at the time of his arrest.

Smith is charged with third degree grand larceny, three counts of second degree possession of a forged instrument, third degree criminal possession of stolen property and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
