The Annual Open House includes demonstrations from many police units, and is for kids and the community to learn about the department.

The Nassau County Police Department is opening the doors of its headquarters to the public this week during its Annual Open House, which is celebrating the 94th anniversary of the department.
Now through Friday, May 17, visitors can come and see a variety of demonstrations and learn all about the police. The events are held each day from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the rear of Police Headquarters, located at 1490 Franklin Ave. in Mineola.
The exposition is designed to educate, inform, and involve school children and residents of Nassau County to create a spirit of cooperation among police officers and the communities they serve, the police said.
