- A new parking garage at the Mineola LIRR Station is set to open this month after a year-long delay following its completion. Part of the LIRR expansion project, the MTA built a five-level, 551-space garage west of Mineola Boulevard between Harrison Avenue and First Street that will be operated by the Village of Mineola. - Mineola native Xavier Edwards, infielder for the Minor League Baseball team Tampa Bay Rays, had an exceptional season, helping the team finish with the best record in the American League. (MiLB.com)
- Sandra Lee Hile of Larchmont, New York, passed away on Oct. 13. Hile was born in Mineola and grew up in Garden City, graduating from Garden City High School in 1968.
