Here are the top stories in Mineola today:

  1. Hildebrandt's luncheonette in Williston Park, a Long Island landmark for nearly 95 years, will remain open thanks to new owners Randy Sarf and Spencer Singer. When they heard the beloved local restaurant was in danger of closing, they made an offer to buy the business and signed a new 10-year lease with the building's owner. Sarf and Singer are considering bringing back homemade candy to the menu but assured that the iconic neon sign outside will never change. (News12 Long Island)
  2. Nassau County and U.S. Marines Toys for Tots are starting a new high school program to deliver toys to thousands of Ukrainian refugee children. Jessica Vartanov, a student at Jericho High School, helped spearhead the new program which was expected to be announced outside of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola on Tuesday. (Mineola Patch)
  3. The East Williston School District, which includes part of Mineola, has sworn in Danielle Gately as its new superintendent. Gately, who replaces Elaine Kanas, previously held four different positions with the school district, including chief information officer and director of district curriculum information. Also sworn in were trustees David Keefe and Tasneem Meghji. (The Island 360)
