On Long Island and in New York City, taxis are a vital way to get where you need to go, but there are some people who have a tough time getting around, even with a taxi.
Some taxis have become wheelchair accessible, but the MV-1 is the first of its kind. It was designed specifically for people in wheelchairs to help give them possitive transportation experience. The MV-1 has a built in ramp for easy entry and exit as well as plenty of space for the wheelchair to placed.
The wheelchair accessibility has the interested and considering some for their , which is geared toward helping senior citizens continue to age in place.

The MV-1 has two identical looking models, the only difference is the gas. There is an option to buy a MV-1 that runs off CNG – compressed natural gas. It is good for the environment and cheaper than the gasoline currently be used in cars, experts say.
The MV-1 is being used in both New York City and Connecticut, and pretty soon you may see some around the North Hempstead. Joel Ziev, director of Port Washington-based , whose services include meeting the access needs of people who are physically disabled, fascilitated a demo for local taxi services and politicians to see the MV-1.
