Here are the top stories today in Mineola:
- A 24-vehicle collision involving five school buses occurred on Northern Boulevard in Roslyn on Wednesday morning due to black ice on the roads. Fortunately, no children were on board the buses, but 10 people went to a local hospital with minor injuries. There were also numerous accidents on Northern Boulevard in Old Brookville, causing the road to be temporarily closed in the morning. (News12 Long Island)
- A pedestrian was hit by a car in East Garden City on Monday night and is in critical condition, according to Nassau County police. The 57-year-old man was crossing Stewart Avenue near the Meadowbrook State Parkway entrance at 8:03 p.m. when he was struck by an SUV driven by a 23-year-old man. The driver did not flee the scene, police noted, but an investigation is ongoing. If you witnessed the accident or have any information, please call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. - Deborah N. Misir, a partner in the Mineola law firm Lally and Misir, LLP with her husband, Grant Lally, has been appointed town attorney of Huntington by new town supervisor Ed Smyth. Misir also serves on the Nassau County Committee on Equal Justice in the Courts for the 10th Judicial District and has previously served as president of the Indian American Bar Association of Long Island.
