Friday October 28 the Mineola Water Department will be performing maintenance
fire hydrant flushing in the area north of Jericho Turnpike from Marcellus Road
to Herricks Road, and from Jericho Turnpike to
the north village line and Hillside Avenue.
The approximate hours we will be flushing hydrants will be
between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. each day this week. We will make every effort to
complete this work as soon as possible, but estimate that it may take up to 5
days to complete.
During the flushing period, you may observe discolored
water and you may also experience lower than normal water pressure. As a
precaution, we suggest that you do the following:
- Refrain from washing clothes during this time.
- Check the water quality after flushing hours by running the cold water tap. If the water appears discolored, please run your cold water tap until it clears. You will notice the discoloration fading as you run the water. This should only take a few minutes. If the water does not clear within a few minutes, please contact our office at (516) 746-0751.
- Store water in containers to have available should you require drinking water during flushing hours.
- You may wish to shut off your refrigerator’s ice maker.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate
your cooperation.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the
Village of Mineola Water Department Office at (516) 746-0751.
Thank you.
