  1. A pedestrian was struck and killed early Monday morning while crossing Old Country Road in New Cassel. The 65-year-old male driver of a grey van hit the victim in the westbound lanes near Hilton Street. (Mineola Patch)
  2. New information has been released about the July car crash in Quogue that killed five people, including two brothers and a third man from Manhasset. The driver who hit an oncoming Uber was speeding at 106 mph just seconds before the crash on Montauk Highway. (The Island Now)
  3. The historic LIRR Nassau Tower on Main Street and Station Road in Mineola has been demolished to make way for the new 10-mile-long Third Track being built between Floral Park and Hicksville. LIRR President Phillip Eng said that they attempted to preserve the structure's history, but they ultimately needed to create a new path forward. (Subscription: Newsday)
