
UPDATE 6:39 p.m.: The LIRR says service has been restored with delays averaging 45-60 minutes on the Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches.
Long Island Rail Road service was suspended on three branches Tuesday evening "due to an unauthorized person on the tracks east of Carle Place," the LIRR said on its website.
The railroad did not specify if the person was struck by a train, but police and emergency medical personnel are on scene.

Service is suspended on the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson and Oyster Bay branches. Commuters are urged to use alternate branches, such as Babylon and Montauk.

The 5:09PM train from Penn due Speonk at 7:13PM continues to be delayed east of Carle Place Station due to an unauthorized person on the tracks. LIRR personnel anticipate restoring service shortly following the completion of a police investigation.
