Police: Hempstead Man Arrested For Shooting 14-Year-Old

The 22-year-old faces an attempted murder charge. Shooting occurred in Uniondale last month.

A 22-year-old Hempstead man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with a shooting a 14-year-old who was riding his bike in Uniondale last month.

Manuel De Jesus Sosa Marquez, 22, is charged with second degree attempted murder.

According to detectives, on Aug. 6 at 11:50 a.m., Marquez was a passenger in a 1995 Honda when he fired three shots at a 14-year-old boy who was riding a bicycle on Argyle Avenue and Davis Street in Uniondale.

The teen was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his upper torso. Detectives located Marquez on Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. at his residence and placed him under arrest.

He will be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
