Police Identify Victim in New Cassel Shooting

The Homicide Squad is investigating a murder in New Cassel where Gomez Hurd, 31, of New Cassel died after being shot several times on Monday evening.

According to detectives, officers received a call for a male shot in front of 994 Prospect Ave. and arrived to the scene to find Hurd suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at 6:16 p.m.

Hurd was taken to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 6:42 p.m.

Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for this murder. Anyone with information regarding the above crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
