Police Searching for Armed Robber who Broke into Supermarket

BREAKING: He robbed two employees, but wasn't able to steal anything from the store.

Police are searching for a man who attempted to rob a Mineola supermarket early Sunday morning.

According to Nassau police, an unknown man broke into the Western Beef Supermarket located at 61 2nd Street at 5:05 a.m. through the skylight in the roof. Once inside, the he made an unsuccessful attempt to gain entry into the store office. Two morning shift employees arriving for work were accosted by the man, who stole their cash and cell phones.

The burglar is described as wearing a black ski mask, armed with a silver handgun and a hammer. The robber then fled through the rear emergency door in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported.
