Police: Westbury Finance Officer Stole $25K Loan From Customer
Authorities issued a Nassau County warrant to extradite the man back to Long Island from South Carolina on Thursday.

A finance officer for a Westbury car dealership was extricated from South Carolina on Thursday for taking a customer’s car loan and failing to pay the loan company, police said.
According to authorities, a customer went to Advantage Nissan in Westbury to pay off a car loan for $25,000 on April 28, 2012.
Lee M. Shapiro, 54, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, gave the customer a signed receipt, but never paid the loan company and never returned to the dealership after the incident, police said.

Authorities were able to locate Shapiro in South Carolina after an investigation and issued a warrant to extradite him back to Nassau County.
He is being charged with third degree grand larceny and petty larceny.

Shapiro will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
