Here are the top stories in Mineola today:
- In pre-COVID times, many large retailers opened its doors for consumers with early Black Friday deals on Thanksgiving Day, but that is one tradition that may have fallen by the wayside. Most major stores will be closed today, including Walmart, Target, Costco, Home Depot and Macy's. A handful of stores, including CVS, Walgreens and Whole Foods, will be open. (abc7NY)
- New data released by the New York State Department of Labor shows that unemployment is down on Long Island and has returned to pre-pandemic levels, at 4 percent for the month of October. Unemployment rose to record highs in April 2020 at 17.5 percent and has been decreasing gradually since then. The statistics show that 655, 500 people are currently employed in Nassau County.
