Here are the top stories today in Mineola:
- Two female passengers were killed in an auto accident early Sunday morning in North New Hyde Park. A 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by a 41-year-old man overturned against a pole on Marcus Avenue near Union Turnpike around 7 a.m., according to Nassau County police. The passengers, ages 71 and 39, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was removed and taken to a local hospital in critical condition. (CBS New York)
- Due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the team, the upcoming New York Islanders game at the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday has been postponed, as had Sunday's game at the New York Rangers. Seven players had already been out of commission with COVID; when an eighth, Casey Cizikas, tested positive, the NHL decided to temporarily shut the team down to prevent further spread. (ESPN)
