Here are the top stories today in Mineola:

  1. Nassau County is collecting supplies from residents to help the people of Ukraine in the war against Russia. The Legislature has put collection boxes for medical and personal hygiene products at seven locations throughout the county, including the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building at 1550 Franklin Ave., Mineola. Just some of the needed supplies are first aid kits, Advil/Tylenol, PPE, toothpaste, bar soap and coats. Residents can drop off donations Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., until March 25. (Garden City Patch)
  2. Long Island residents are getting fed up with bumpy roads riddled with potholes causing expensive repairs to their cars. "When you start off with lousy roads, it's really easy to get potholes, especially given the weather that we've had," explained AAA Northeast spokesman Robert Sinclair. Both main and side roads are affected. Contractors are currently bidding to repair the Long Island Expressway (LIE), with roadwork expected to begin in the spring. (CBS New York)
  3. New Hyde Park-based Northwell Health has been named as Fast Company's 2022 World's Most Innovative Companies. Earning a number three spot in the health care category, Northwell Health was recognized for several specific achievements, including converting bi-level positive airway pressure machines into ventilators for COVID-19 patients when ventilators were in short supply.
