Here are the top stories today in Mineola:

  1. A 30-year-old woman was killed in a crash when she turned east out of Westbury Manor on Jericho Turnpike in Old Westbury on Saturday night. An 18-year-old man driving a 2016 BMW struck her 2009 Chevy Impala, and she suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a police medic, according to police. The other driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. (Mineola Patch)
  2. Two fires broke out at two car dealerships at the same time on Sunday night, between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.: one at Westbury Toyota on Old Country Road in Westbury, and the other at the Jeep dealership on Jericho Turnpike in Jericho. The Nassau County Fire Marshall's office is investigating. (News12 Long Island)
  3. Dozens of cats and dogs, and even a couple of rabbits, are currently available at Mineola area animal shelters to be adopted and join your family.
