• Town Starts Work on Sustainable Planning Project (lilifepolitics.com) — East Hampton Town has launched a major planning effort focused on making Montauk's business district more resilient to flooding, storms, and sea-level rise, and is inviting residents and business owners to get involved. Backed by $600,000 in state funding, consultants and a local advisory committee will soon hold workshops, walks, and small-group discussions to shape concrete adaptation steps for Montauk's economy, infrastructure, and natural resources.
   

• Long Island Nor'easter update: Coastal flooding, strong winds to begin Friday followed by prolonged rainfall (newsday.com) — Montauk and the East End are in the bull's-eye of an early-season nor'easter bringing up to 5 inches of rain, 55 mph gusts, and dangerous coastal flooding through Monday. Expect 14- to 19-foot seas offshore, large surf, serious beach erosion, and possible road closures and power outages, especially along the South Shore and Twin Forks.
