• A Sailboat, and a Mystery, Off Main Beach (easthamptonstar.com) — A mysterious 30-foot sailboat anchored off East Hampton's Main Beach was towed into Montauk after drifting dangerously close to shore, prompting checks for safety and possible damage. Town marine patrol and the harbormaster secured the boat at Montauk's pump-out dock, while the owner, sailing from Massachusetts to Florida and wanted in Florida on larceny charges, was located but not arrested locally.
