Photos: Montauk Fire Department Stages Ocean Rescue Drill

MONTAUK, NY - Patrons at the Sloppy Tuna were surprised during lunch on Saturday afternoon, as South Edison Street in Montauk became the access road for the Montauk Fire Department's ocean rescue drill.

Also assisting in rescuing the drowning "victim" were the East Hampton Marine Patrol, with Chief Harbormaster Ed Michels in charge and East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue's/Montauk Fire Department's Thom Fleming leading the way.

In charge for the MFD was Second Assistant Chief Fritz "Dutch" Riege, assisted by First Assistant Chief Vincent Franzone.

The successful operation was held in preparation for the upcoming hectic summer season.
