Remains Matching Missing Artist Peter Beard Found In Montauk: PD
Renowned photographer Peter Beard was missing since March from his Montauk home. Police said remains matching his description were found.

MONTAUK, NY — The remains of an elderly man matching the description of missing photographer and artist Peter Beard were found in Montauk's Camp Hero State Park, police said.
Beard, 82, has been missing from his Montauk Home since March 31, police said. At the time he went missing, police said, Beard was suffering from dementia.
Detectives were called to Old Montauk Highway in Montauk Sunday at 9:10 a.m. after a hunter familiar with the area found a piece of clothing consistent with a description of clothing worn by Beard, police said.

A search of the area was conducted and the remains of an elderly man consistent with the description of Beard and the clothing he was wearing were located in a densely wooded area, police said.
The remains were taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office for identification, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the East Hampton Town Police Department at 631-537-7575. All calls will be kept confidential.

Beard worked with artists including Andy Warhol, British painter Francis Bacon, Salvador Dali and Truman Capote. Beard showed his work at the Guild Hall in East Hampton in 2016, according to People magazine.
