2 Teenagers Arrested In Targeted Broad Daylight Shooting
A 15-year-old & a 17-year-old are in custody in connection with a shooting that left a Westchester man with wounds in both legs.

YONKERS, NY — The Yonkers Police Department said they have arrested two teenagers responsible for the brazen afternoon shooting on Tuesday.
The daytime shooting took place near 1 Schroeder Street, just after 2 p.m. Yonkers police were called to the scene on a report of a gunshot victim. A 21-year-old male victim suffered one gunshot wound to each leg, according to police.
The victim is a Yonkers resident who police are not yet identifying. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to officials.

Detectives from the Major Case Squad, the Crime Scene Unit, the Digital Forensics Unit and the Field Investigation Division were all involved in the investigation. The investigators found that two suspects arrived at the scene in a vehicle and fired several gunshots at the victim, believed to be their intended target, before they fled the scene.
Detectives identified and located the vehicle Tuesday evening. They apprehended one of the suspects, a 17-year-old Yonkers resident, and later, the second suspect, a 15-year-old Yonkers resident.

"I applaud our Detectives for once again demonstrating that Yonkers is not the place to commit violent crime," Yonkers Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza said of the arrests. "Our members had suspects in custody within hours of this shooting, taking two violent individuals off the street. Once again, we find ourselves at the conclusion of a violent incident involving minors. We need the support of our community and our families to stress to our youth that violence is not the answer."
The two teenage boys were charged and arraigned in the Youth Part of Westchester County Court.
Because the suspects are under the age of 18, they will not be publicly identified due to current laws restricting the release of this information, police said. Both were charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Both remain in custody, according to authorities.
