2nd DWI In 10 Years For 28-Year-Old

State police picked him up on Tuckahoe Road.

YONKERS, NY — State Police stopped a vehicle on Tuckahoe Road for an equipment violation at 2 a.m. Nov. 18. The driver of the vehicle, Edward G. Amaya, 28, of Yonkers, NY, was found to be intoxicated.

He was transported and processed at the state police headquarters Tarrytown, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.19 percent. Additionally, he has a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years, state police said. As a result he was charged with:

  • Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; BAC .18% or more; (no priors) a Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Driving While Intoxicated with previous conviction within 10 years; a Class E Felony.
  • Vehicle and Traffic Violations


Amaya was turned over to a sober third party and released on traffic tickets returnable to the City of Yonkers Court on December 1, 2017, at 9:30 a.m.
