MOUNT VERNON, NY — Mayor Richard Thomas reminds commuters from NYC into the New York suburbs that the City of Mount Vernon remains an accessible transit hub for those affected by Friday's power outage in the Metropolitan Transit Authority’s Seventh Avenue subway station.

While service has resumed, delays remain possible and additional travel time is recommended. The MTA and Con Edison are actively seeking to restore power to the affected lines in Midtown Manhattan. There is a likelihood that transit will affected during the evening rush hour.

For travelers seeking to transition between New York City and Westchester County who may be impacted, the Mount Vernon hub remains an easily accessible point between the New York City subway system, Metro-North rail, Interstate 95, the Cross-County Parkway, the Bronx River Parkway, the Hutchinson River Parkway, and the Sprain Brook Parkway.

The number 2 subway line and number 5 subway line have stops on the Bronx-Mount Vernon border with easy accessibility to Metro-North’s New Haven and Hudson lines.
