MOUNT VERNON, NY — A brutal death has now led to a murder indictment against a Westchester man.
Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced that 28-year-old Joveair Brice, of Mount Vernon, was arraigned on Thursday on an indictment charging him with felony second-degree murder.
He remains remanded to the Westchester County Jail.

According to the felony complaint, between March 20 and March 21, Brice struck 33-year-old Lisa Grier, of Mount Vernon, in the head with a hammer several times, killing her. Prosecutors say that Grier was Brice's girlfriend and worked as a paraprofessional in the New York City school system.
"Combating domestic violence remains a top priority for our office," Cacace said. "This indictment serves as a reminder that despicable acts like this will not be tolerated. We will continue to utilize every resource available to deliver justice to all victims."
This case was investigated by the Mount Vernon Police Department, and is being prosecuted by Major Case Bureau Deputy Chief Elizabeth Shumejda and Assistant DA Marissa Morra-Wynn.
