Arrested Man Had Gun, Mount Vernon Police Allege

Police were working with agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Mount Vernon police worked with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to arrest a man facing felony charges in Connecticut.

At 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Mount Vernon Police Detectives Benny Gutierrez and Edward McCue along with ATF Task Force Officer Ronnie Williams and Senior Special Agent Robert Soukeras stopped Dante McAllister in front of 227 Franklin Ave.

Police allege McAllister had a loaded Smith & Wesson firearm secreted in his right front jacket pocket.

He was arrested without incident and transported to the Mount Vernon Police Department, then . then turned over to the ATF agents.

A Mount Vernon resident, McAllister has a prior violent felony conviction in New York and pending charges (including a violent felony for a domestic incident) out of Connecticut. The 29-year-old is a known gang member, police said.
