Blaze Consumes Mount Vernon Body Shop, Cars
Mount Vernon Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at the building near the overpass crossing the Hutchinson River Parkway Friday.
MOUNT VERNON, NY — Firefighters responded to a blaze at a two-story Mount Vernon body shop building just before noon on Friday.
Neighbors told Patch the upstairs units in the two-story structure on East 3rd Street are used as office and storage space. It is not believed that anyone lives above the garage. The second floor of the building partially collapsed.
No injuries have been reported at this time.

The business at 551 E. 3rd St. is listed as the Autoglobal. Yanni Electric also shares the address, according to records. The attached building next door appears to be vacant, but neighbors said the empty shop is used as a storage area.
